Add Page Numbers to PDF

Choose a PDF to work on. Only one PDF can be processed at a time, the result keeps the same pages with numbers drawn on them.

Set the numbering and appearance options. Choose the position, format, first number, font, size, color, and distance from the edge. Number every page or enter a custom range, then check the thumbnails to preview placement and spot possible overlap with content.

When ready, select “Add page numbers” to create the PDF, then review and select “Download” to save it. Select “Change settings” to adjust the result and save again without choosing the file again.

Choose where numbers appear from the top, middle, or bottom, aligned left, center, or right. “Format” options include “1”, “1 / N”, “Page 1”, “Page 1 of N”, and “Custom text…”. Set “First number” from 0 to 99999 to begin with a different number. To leave the title page unnumbered, turn on “Don't number the first page (title page)”.

Choose Sans, Serif, or Mono, set “Font size” from 6 to 72 pt, and select a color. Set “Distance from the edge” to Narrow, Normal, Wide, or a custom value. Under “More options”, adjust opacity or mirror positions on facing pages, with odd pages on the right and even pages on the left. Numbers are drawn over page content without shrinking pages, so check the preview for possible overlap.

The tool is free, adds no watermark or branding, and requires no registration. It processes the PDF in your browser without uploading it. Password-protected PDFs and PDFs with permission restrictions must be unlocked before use. Only one numbering sequence can be applied per run. The practical file-size limit depends on your device’s memory.

If a PDF is marked as PDF/A, the tool removes only the PDF/A identification from its XMP metadata. The changed file is not checked for PDF/A conformance.
