Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of freepdfmodify.com (the "Service", "we", "us"). By using the Service you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

The Service offers free online tools for working with PDF files and related documents (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML and images).

• Browser tools (page operations, images to PDF, editing, signing and filling forms) run entirely in your browser. Your files are processed on your device and are never sent to us.
• Server tools (for example compression, conversions between PDF and Office formats, PDF to images, password protection and removal, extracting images and, later, text recognition) need our server. Such tools say so on their page. Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed automatically and deleted as described in section 4.

The Service is free. We may add, change, limit or discontinue tools and features at any time, and we set limits on file size, number of files, pages and simultaneous jobs to keep the Service stable for everyone. Conversion results depend on the source document: layout, fonts and tables may differ from the original, so please check the result before you use it.

2. Who may use the Service

You must be at least 16 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country if it is higher, to create an account. Younger users may use the tools only with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you use the Service for an organisation, you confirm that you are allowed to act on its behalf.

3. Accounts

An account is optional. You need a valid e-mail address, which you confirm, and a password that you keep secret. You are responsible for activity in your account and must tell us promptly if you believe it is being misused. Accounts are personal and must not be shared. You can delete your account at any time on your account page, or ask us by writing from its e-mail address to the contact below.

E-mails. We send you the e-mails your account needs — address confirmation, password reset, security notices (for example, that your password was changed) — and notices about important changes to the Service or to these Terms. These cannot be switched off while you have an account. We may also send occasional news about the Service, such as new tools and features or paid plans and AI features when they appear. Every such news e-mail has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time.

4. Your files

• You keep all rights to the files you process and to the results. We claim no ownership.
• You give us only the limited, temporary permission needed to store and process a file for the operation you request. We do not read your documents, do not share or sell them and do not use them to train AI models.
• Retention on our server: the original is deleted right after processing and in any case within 1 hour; the result is available for 1 hour to guests and for 24 hours to registered users and is then deleted automatically. Deleted files cannot be restored and are not kept in backups.
• Passwords you enter to open or protect a PDF are used only for that operation and are not stored. Macros in Office documents are never run.
• Results can be downloaded only through a private link issued to you. Keep your originals and download results in time.

5. Acceptable use

Use only files you are entitled to use. You must not use the Service to:

• process or distribute unlawful content, including child sexual abuse material, intimate images shared without consent, or content that infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights;
• remove passwords or restrictions from documents that are not yours, unless the owner allowed you to do so;
• forge documents or signatures, deceive or defraud others, promote violence or hatred, or harass anyone;
• upload malware or files designed to harm our systems or other users;
• overload, attack or probe the Service, bypass its limits or security, or use bots, scrapers or automated bulk processing beyond normal personal use.

A signature added with the Service is an image placed on the page, not a qualified or certified electronic signature. You are responsible for whether it is accepted for your purpose.

6. Suspension

We may limit, suspend or block access to the Service or to an account if these Terms or the law are breached, to protect the Service or its users, or when required by law. Where reasonable we will tell you why. You may stop using the Service at any time.

7. Copyright and illegal content complaints

If you believe content processed through the Service infringes your rights or is illegal, write to us with: a description of the work or content concerned, where it appears (link or job reference), your contact details, a statement that you act in good faith and that the information is accurate, and your name as signature. Because files are deleted automatically within 24 hours, most content is no longer stored by the time a complaint arrives; we will still act promptly and may block users who repeatedly infringe.

8. Our rights

The Service, its software, design, texts, name and logo belong to us. You may use the Service only as offered; no other licence is granted. We claim no rights in your files or results.

9. Third parties

The Service may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for third-party websites or products. The Service does not show advertising; if this changes, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy first.

10. No warranty

The Service is provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that results will meet your expectations or be suitable for a particular purpose. Always keep a copy of your original files.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of data, profit or business arising from the use of or inability to use the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.

12. Your responsibility

You are responsible for the files you process. If a third party makes a claim against us because of your unlawful content or your breach of these Terms, you will compensate us for the resulting reasonable costs, to the extent permitted by law.

13. Events beyond our control

We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as outages of hosting or network providers, attacks, natural events or acts of authorities.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The date of the last update is shown on this page. For significant changes we will inform registered users by e-mail or on the website before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

15. Applicable law

These Terms are governed by the law of the country where the operator of the Service is established. If you use the Service as a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence, and you may bring claims in its courts. Please contact us first — most issues can be solved quickly by e-mail.

16. Language and final provisions

These Terms are published in several languages; if versions differ, the English version prevails. If a provision is invalid, the rest remains in force. Not enforcing a provision is not a waiver. We may transfer the Service to a successor who continues it under these Terms.
