Remove PDF password protection when you know its open or owner password. PDFs with restrictions only can be unlocked without a password. This tool does not guess, crack, or recover passwords.
Your file is uploaded over a secure connection and processed on our server. The original is deleted right after processing, the result after 1 hour (24 hours in your account).
Add one or more PDF files to the tool, up to 10 in one batch. Before you start, check each file’s protection details to see whether it needs an open password or has restrictions only.
For a password-protected PDF, enter its open password or owner password in the “PDF password” field. Select “Show password” to check what you typed. A batch uses the same password for every file, so process files with different passwords one at a time.
Choose “Unlock PDF” to remove encryption or restrictions. A file with restrictions only needs no password, an unprotected PDF has nothing to unlock.
When processing finishes, download the unlocked PDFs individually or download the batch ZIP archive.
The tool is free, requires no registration, and adds no watermark. Guests can process files up to 50 MB and 200 pages each. Registered users can process files up to 100 MB and 500 pages each. A batch can contain up to 10 PDFs.
Unlocking removes encryption or restrictions. The resulting file opens without a password and keeps its text, forms, bookmarks, and document properties. Batch results are also offered in a ZIP archive.
Do not use this tool if a digital signature must remain valid: signatures stop being valid after unlocking. DRM and certificate-based encryption are not supported.
Processing takes place on the server over HTTPS. The original PDF is deleted after processing. The unlocked result is kept for 1 hour for guests or 24 hours for registered users, then deleted automatically. The password is used for the job only and is not stored.

Can I unlock a PDF without knowing its password?
For a PDF that asks for a password to open, you need to know that open password or the owner password. The tool cannot guess, crack, recover, or bypass a password. A PDF with restrictions only is the exception, since it can be unlocked without a password.
What file size and page limits apply?
Guests can unlock files up to 50 MB and 200 pages each. Registered users can unlock files up to 100 MB and 500 pages each. You can process up to 10 PDFs in one batch, but files with different passwords need to be handled one at a time.
Will a digital signature remain valid after unlocking?
No. Digital signatures in the file stop being valid after unlocking. If you need to preserve a valid signature, keep the original PDF unchanged.
How are my files handled, and how long are results available?
The PDF is uploaded over HTTPS and processed on the server. The uploaded original is deleted right after processing. Results are kept for 1 hour for guests or 24 hours for registered users, and registered users can download them again from processing history until deletion. The password is not stored.
