PDF to Excel extracts tables from searchable PDFs to XLSX or CSV. Use it free without registration, enter a protected PDF's password for the job.
Your file is uploaded over a secure connection and processed on our server. The original is deleted right after processing, the result after 1 hour (24 hours in your account).
Upload one PDF. Scans without a text layer are refused and linked to OCR PDF, so make them searchable first.
Under “Format,” choose “Excel (XLSX)” or “CSV.” For XLSX, choose a sheet per page, per table, or all tables on one sheet. CSV creates one file per table, multiple files come in a ZIP.
Under “Pages,” enter page numbers or ranges. For XLSX, choose whether to include text outside tables and convert numbers.
If prompted, enter the PDF password, it is used only for the job and not stored. Select “Convert to Excel.” The result shows the table count and page locations and previews the first table.
For XLSX, text outside tables can be included, with each paragraph placed in its own row in column A. Number conversion recognizes amounts and percentages, codes such as “007,” phone numbers, and numbers longer than 15 digits remain text. Output contains values, not formulas.
The tool finds tables in the PDF text layer. Complex unlined tables may not split exactly, tables continuing across pages are not joined, and manual table-area selection is unavailable. If no tables are found, it suggests converting the PDF to Word to get its text.
Process one PDF at a time. Guest limits are 50 MB and 200 pages, registered-user limits are 100 MB and 500 pages. Page limits apply to the whole file or selected pages. Registration is not required, and results have no watermark.
Conversion runs on the server over a secure connection. The uploaded PDF is deleted after conversion, results are deleted after one hour for guests or 24 hours for registered users. Cloud import, saving, and email delivery are unavailable, so download results before the link expires.
FAQ
Can I convert a scanned PDF directly?
No. A scan or a table stored as an image has no text layer for the tool to read. Make the PDF searchable with OCR PDF first, then upload that searchable file.
Can I export to the old .xls format?
No. Excel output is provided as an XLSX workbook. CSV is also available if you need table data in a plain-text, spreadsheet-compatible format.
What happens to the password for a protected PDF?
The password is used only for that conversion job and is erased afterward. It is never stored.
